Baseball Game Preview: Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers vs. Ooltewah Owls

Howard Tech is 0-9 against Ooltewah since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Hustlin' Tigers will head out to take on the Owls at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Howard Tech and East Ridge meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Hustlin' Tigers came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 9-4.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Ooltewah took on Rhea County on Monday. The Owls had just enough and edged out the Golden Eagles 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Owls have posted since April 2nd.

Ooltewah has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Howard Tech, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-18.

Howard Tech suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Ooltewah when the teams last played on April 9th. Can the Hustlin' Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
