Baseball Recap: Breathitt County Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Wolfe County typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Breathitt County proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 6-1. This was a revenge game for the Bobcats: when they faced off against the Wolves back in April, they had to take a 7-6 defeat.

Sebastian Howard made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Aiden Combs and Jayden Hudson did most of the damage at the plate: Combs went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Hudson went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Hudson a new career-high.

Breathitt County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wolfe County only posted an OBP of .290.

Breathitt County is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Wolfe County, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 19-11.

As of now, neither Breathitt County nor the Wolves have any future games scheduled.
