Softball Recap: Bellport Find Success

Bellport's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Centereach Cougars 2-1. The Clippers haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Charlotte Barry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Bellport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caitlin Maragioglio, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Angely Banegas also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Bellport's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Centereach, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Bellport will head out to face off against Ward Melville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Centereach, they will welcome Newfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars are facing the Wolverines at the right time seeing as the Wolverines are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
