Basketball Game Preview: Gadsden City Titans vs. Spring Garden Panthers

The Gadsden City Titans will face off against the Spring Garden Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Gadsden City is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Fort Payne just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 51-30 to the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Wildcats are ranked 33rd).

Despite their loss, Gadsden City saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aaliyah Richard, who posted four points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Karleigh Sheffield, who had five points.

Even though they lost, Gadsden City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Spring Garden entered their tilt with Southside on Thursday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They took their game with ease, bagging a 69-40 victory over the Panthers. Spring Garden has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Spring Garden pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.9 points per game. As for Gadsden City, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.
