Baseball Recap: Thunderbird Drops Season-High Score on Greenway

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thunderbird). They blew past the Greenway Demons 16-0 on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Titans with their most commanding win of the season.

Patrick Ramon made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Matt Hornburg was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Thunderbird's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Andrew Cohill, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Thunderbird always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Thunderbird, bringing their record up to 14-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Greenway, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.
