Walker Valley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt McMinn County on Sunday. The Mustangs blew past the Cherokees 9-0. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by eight runs or more this season.

Olivia Presswood made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vanessa Byers, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Alyssa Davenport was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

The win (which was Walker Valley's third in a row) raised their record to 27-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for McMinn County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Walker Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-3 win against Cleveland on the 5th. McMinn County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
