Softball Recap: Valley Forge Patriots vs. Rocky River Pirates
Valley Forge had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-14 to make it 11. They lost 14-0 to the Rocky River Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 two weeks ago.
As for Rocky River, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Considering they have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Rocky River's part, Reagan Kane made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Kane has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 12 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leigh Konet, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Elizabeth Smalley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
