Softball Recap: Chavez Eagles vs. Sylmar Spartans
After only one run in their last match, Chavez made sure to put some runs up on the board against Sylmar on Friday. Everything went the Chavez Eagles' way against the Sylmar Spartans as the Chavez Eagles made off with a 16-5 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Chavez let Jessica Ramos and Jordan Billingsly run wild. Ramos got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Billingsly went 2-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Ramos has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Vida Gomez, who scored two runs while going 4-for-5.
Chavez was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sylmar only posted a batting average of .296.

Chavez's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Sylmar, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Chavez wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-3 loss against Paraclete on the 1st. As for Sylmar, they will venture away from home to face off against Poly at 3:30 p.m. on March 7th.
