Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Romeoville). They breezed past the Joliet Central Steelmen to the tune of 48-0 on Friday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their six-point performance the matchup before.

It was another big night for Richard Conley, who threw for 240 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 33 yards and one score. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in August of 2024. Romeoville's leading receiver Keilan Winfield was Conley's top target yet again, picking up 147 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Romeoville proved: they limited Joliet Central to a paltry 1.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Tyler Westerman for the heroic effort on defense: he. Romeoville's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 2.53 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 3.8 on average over their last five games.

Romeoville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Damir White-Campbell and Caleb Patterson. Romeoville is 3-1 when Patterson posts one or more interceptions, but 1-2 otherwise.

Romeoville moved to 4-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Joliet Central, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
