Softball Recap: Lakeland Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Lakeland, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Honesdale Hornets on Monday, sneaking past 5-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 on April 4th.

The team relied heavily on Mick Eremo, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Kamri Naniewicz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lakeland's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Honesdale, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland will host Holy Cross at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Chiefs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Honesdale, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Riverside at 4:30 p.m. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.07 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
