Van waltzed into their contest on Friday with 14 straight wins... but they left with 15. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Lindale Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-0 on Tuesday.

Grady Baetz made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Baetz wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Easton Hinch, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Rawly Hinch, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Van's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lindale, their loss ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 15-5-1.

Van and Lindale are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Vandals will square off against Carthage at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lindale, they will take on Spring Hill at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.5, the Panthers 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
