Softball Recap: Hayden Now 15-2 over Last 17 Games

Hayden won the last time they faced West Point and things went their way on Monday too. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Warriors.

Addison McCuistion looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Baylee Scott was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Hayden hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in 12 consecutive contests.

Hayden has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 23-16 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for West Point, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-17.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hayden will venture away from home to face off against Springville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for West Point, they will square off against Lawrence County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Devils will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
