Basketball Game Preview: Delta Rabbits vs. Emery Spartans

Delta is 2-8 against Emery since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Delta Rabbits will take on the Emery Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Delta is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 73-68 heartbreaker at the hands of Manti.

Meanwhile, Emery had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 74-71 win over the Wasps. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since December 13, 2024.

Emery's win came from a few key players Delta will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Porter Hurdsman, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 25 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jace Frandsen, who went 6 of 10 en route to 17 points and seven assists.

Delta's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Emery, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Delta couldn't quite finish off Emery in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 43-41. Can Delta avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
