Basketball Recap: Richards Takes a Loss

If Richards was feeling good fresh off their 71-13 takedown of Allen Academy last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Richards Panthers were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 54-53 to the Kennard Tigers. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kennard to victory, but perhaps none more so than De Vant'E Toliver, who went 8 for 19 on his way to 22 points and six assists. Toliver's afternoon made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Deuce Harrell, who went 8 of 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Richards moved to 7-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Kennard, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.

Richards didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-31 defeat against Alpha Omega Academy on the 6th. Kennard has also already played their next contest, a 76-30 win against Allen Academy on the 6th.
