Basketball Preview: Highland Rams vs. East Leopards

Highland has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the East Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Highland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday.

Last Friday, Highland faced the Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Highland fell to the Hawks 54-50. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Highland in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, Highland had strong showings from Bodie Dodge, who scored 17 points along with two steals, and George Mcconkie, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Dodge scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Gaddis, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, East came into Friday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Skyline on Friday as East made off with a 59-35 win. The victory was just what East needed coming off of a 74-53 loss in their prior contest.

Highland's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for East, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11.

Highland took their victory against the Leopards in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 58-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
