Basketball Recap: Amherst-Pelham Regional Takes a Loss

Amherst-Pelham Regional fought the good fight in their overtime game against Holyoke on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Holyoke Purple Knights by a score of 56-54. The Hurricanes have struggled against the Purple Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

It was another big night for Aiden Cabrera, who posted 19 points and four steals for Holyoke. Cabrera's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Chauncey Ruiz was another key player, putting up eight points.

Amherst-Pelham Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Holyoke, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Amherst-Pelham Regional will challenge Longmeadow at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Longmeadow knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Amherst-Pelham Regional likes a good challenge. As for Holyoke, they will square off against Putnam Vo-Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holyoke is facing Putnam Vo-Tech at the right time seeing as Putnam Vo-Tech is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
