Softball Recap: Marcellus' Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Marcellus lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Hartford, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's contest. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 20-14 win on Monday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Elin Essex spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and ten unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Makynna Harrison was a standout: she got on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Hannah Sharp was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Marcellus, bringing their record up to 10-12. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Hartford, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-14-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Huskies beat Marcellus by a score of 7-6 later that day.
