Basketball Recap: Millington Central Makes It Six in a Row at Home

It may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Millington Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs 58-56. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Pharaohs are ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Millington Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tayshaun Dye, who went 10 of 17 en route to 24 points and eight boards. Dye continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Cody McGhee was another key player, putting up ten points and seven assists.

Millington Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Millington Central pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 28.5% in those games and 29% outside of them. As for Raleigh-Egypt, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Millington Central will venture away from home to face off against Munford at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Raleigh-Egypt, they will welcome Covington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Raleigh-Egypt is facing Covington at the right time seeing as Covington is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
