Softball Recap: Lemont Finds Playoff Glory Versus Ottawa

It's playoff time, and Lemont had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Ottawa Pirates 4-2. The victory continues a trend for the Lemont HS in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Caroline Painter, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Phelan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Lemont's win bumped their record up to 27-10. As for Ottawa, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-11.

Looking ahead, Lemont will challenge Providence Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Celtics will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Lemont HS surely won't give up without a fight. Ottawa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
