Volleyball Recap: Hopewell Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Hopewell came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the South Mecklenburg Sabres. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Sabres recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-3, 25-21.

Laila Johnson paced Hopewell's offense, picking up four kills. Johnson got some help from Ella McLean and her two assists.

South Mecklenburg found their leader in sophomore Jemma Rupert, who had seven digs and two aces. Rupert is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Sophia Woolman was another key player, getting ten digs and two assists.

Hopewell's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for South Mecklenburg, they pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Hopewell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Myers Park on the 29th. As for South Mecklenburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against West Mecklenburg on the 29th.
