Basketball Game Preview: Rich Rebels vs. Cokeville Panthers

The Rich Rebels and the Cokeville Panthers will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cokeville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Rich, who comes in off a win.

Rich's tournament run continued when they took on Wind River on Saturday. Everything went Rich's way against Wind River as Rich made off with a 56-36 win. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season.

Rich found their leader in sophomore Molly Weston, who posted 18 points along with six boards and six steals. Those six steals gave Weston a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylyn Pugmire, who went 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Cokeville suffered their biggest defeat since January 23rd on Saturday. They came up short against Mountain View, falling 63-42. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Buffalos: they've now lost four in a row.

Cokeville now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Rich, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Rich didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cokeville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 57-51 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rich since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
