Softball Game Preview: Hillcrest Rams vs. Greenwood Eagles

For the second straight game, Hillcrest will face off against Greenwood. The Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Hillcrest is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Greenwood get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rams needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Olivia Baker made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hillcrest got a massive performance out of Lillian Lane, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits Lane has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Riley Ramsey, who scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Hillcrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Hillcrest's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Greenwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
