Softball Recap: Springfield's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Springfield's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Jacksonville Crimsons by a score of 7-4. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Senators as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Eve McCorkle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks.

At the plate, Ryleigh Cox was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lanie Dumonceaux, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Springfield's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Jacksonville, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Coming up, Springfield is taking a road trip to take on Normal University at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Senators' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Jacksonville, they will challenge Beardstown at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
