Softball Recap: La Porte Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

La Porte waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Ball Tornadoes. Considering the Bulldogs have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Micaela Lewis looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Madison Lopez was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Kynlee Arachiga was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

La Porte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

La Porte pushed their record up to 17-4-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Ball, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season.

La Porte does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ball, they will take on Friendswood at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Tornadoes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
