Softball Recap: Berlin Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Berlin, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past the Bristol Central Rams 18-6 on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Redcoats, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Callie Jehning made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Julia Matan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Elizabeth Cugno was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs.

Berlin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .684. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Berlin's record is now 7-3. As for Bristol Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Berlin will square off against Plainville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bristol Central, they will face off against Lewis Mills at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight.
