Volleyball Recap: Galax Comes Up Short

Galax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Fort Chiswell Pioneers. The Maroon Tide were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Galax's offense was headlined by Kyleigh Utt and Beth Sizemore, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from KK Barnes and her 19 assists. Abbie Barkley controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Galax's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Fort Chiswell, with the win, they broke their six-match losing streak and moved their record to 5-13.

Galax has already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Patrick County on the 20th. As for Fort Chiswell, they will take on Auburn at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
