Softball Recap: Frederick Douglass Has No Trouble Against Pulaski County

Frederick Douglass's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Pulaski County Maroons.

Haley McGuire was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McGuire was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kavery Myrick was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kadynce Sanders, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Frederick Douglass lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Frederick Douglass' win bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Pulaski County, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frederick Douglass will square off against Madison Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Madison Central will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Frederick Douglass surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pulaski County, they will challenge Southwestern at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Pulaski County's pitchers better be ready for this one: Southwestern has averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
