The DeQuincy Tigers are taking a road trip to face off against the Jennings Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. DeQuincy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, DeQuincy turned things around against East Beauregard on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Trojans.
Bella Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.
On the hitting side, Emily Cooley was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Onnie Remedies, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jennings). They blew past Lake Arthur 20-2 on Thursday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
Kylie Price made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Jennings got a massive performance out of Emma Venable, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Malaya Sonnier was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Jennings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Jennings is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. DeQuincy's record is now 6-7.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. DeQuincy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. However, it's not like Jennings struggles in that department as they've averaged .505. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
DeQuincy couldn't quite finish off Jennings in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 and fell 5-3. Can DeQuincy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
