Softball Recap: Kearsley Takes a Loss

Kearsley had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-11 to make it five. They lost 16-0 to the Fenton Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 14-0 loss back in April.

As for Fenton, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3-1 record this season. Considering they have won 17 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Fenton's part, Lillian Tillier made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Tillier has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Ally Turkowski and Izzy MacCaughan did most of the damage at the plate: Turkowski went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while MacCaughan went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Turkowski a new career-high. Taryn Craven was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

While Kearsley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
