Preview: Cape May County Tech Hawks vs. Wildwood Warriors
The Cape May County Tech Hawks will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Wildwood Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on December 26th. Cape May County Tech will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while Wildwood is ranked 160th).
Last Saturday, Cape May County Tech had to suffer through a rough 72-32 loss at the hands of Ocean City. Cape May County Tech has not had much luck with Ocean City recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Wildwood was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 57-52 to Lower Cape May.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Junior Hans, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. He scored a full 30.8% of Wildwood's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brian Cunniff was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Cape May County Tech bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Wildwood, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.
Cape May County Tech was taken down by Wildwood 65-38 when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Thankfully for Cape May County Tech, Ernie Troiano (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
