After a string of six wins, White Pine's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were dealt a 60-30 defeat at the hands of the Needles Mustangs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-34 back in December of 2024.

White Pine lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brenley Skadburg, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Paityn Lawrence, who put up eight points and six steals.

Even though they lost, White Pine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

It was another big night for Gianna Collier, who went 9 of 21 on her way to 27 points and seven steals for Needles. The matchup was Collier's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Gisele Burns was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 11 points and six boards.

White Pine's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Needles, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

White Pine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-22 win against Laughlin on the 18th. As for Needles, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-15 victory against Lincoln County on the 18th.
