Soccer Game Preview: Fountain Hills vs. St. Mary's

The Fountain Hills Falcons will be taking part in a tournament against the St. Mary's Knights at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Fountain Hills unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They lost 8-2 to Veritas Prep on Wednesday. Fountain Hills hasn't had much luck with Veritas Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's came up short against Cortez on Wednesday, falling 5-2. The loss was the Knights' first of the season.

Patrick Schager and Jose Rodriguez Perez scored both of St. Mary's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Fountain Hills beat St. Mary's 2-0 in their previous meeting back in January of 2015. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fountain Hills since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
