Recap: Centreville Wildcats vs. South Lakes Seahawks
The Centreville Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against South Lakes, falling 45-3. Centreville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-3.
South Lakes' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nick Harris, who threw for 347 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was James Zschunke, who picked up 163 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Centreville's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.7 points per game. As for South Lakes, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centreville will take on James Madison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. James Madison presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Centreville in Virginia (James Madison is ranked 15th, while Centreville is ranked 183rd). As for South Lakes, they will be playing at home against Westfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westfield is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
