Softball Game Preview: Somonauk Bobcats vs. Aurora Central Catholic Chargers

The Somonauk Bobcats will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Aurora Central Catholic Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Somonauk is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They fell just short of Reed-Custer by a score of 7-6 on Monday.

Kennedy Barshinger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ashley McCoy was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Aurora Central Catholic suffered their closest loss since April 8, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Wheaton-Warrenville South by a score of 7-5. The loss was the Chargers' first of the season.

Aurora Central Catholic saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlotte Brummel, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Brummel posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another was Sophia Delgado, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Aurora Central Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
