Basketball Recap: Narragansett Comes Up Short

Narragansett lost against North Providence last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Narragansett Mariners lost to the North Providence Cougars on the road by a 68-51 margin. While losing is never fun, the Mariners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Cougars are ranked fifth).

Narragansett's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-11. As for North Providence, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-1.

Looking ahead, Narragansett will welcome Moses Brown at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Moses Brown knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 games -- so hopefully Narragansett likes a good challenge. As for North Providence, they will head out to challenge Burrillville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Burrillville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.3 points per game this season.
