Soccer Game Preview: Ashe County vs. Freedom

The Ashe County Huskies will challenge the Freedom Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ashe County's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Tuesday, Ashe County came up short against Hibriten and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, Ashe County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 211th, while Hibriten are ranked 82nd).

Meanwhile, Freedom can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand South Caldwell a 1-0 shutout. Freedom's winning goal came courtesy of Drew Rogers.

Ashe County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1. As for Freedom, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 6-11-1.

Ashe County took their victory against Freedom in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 5-2 score. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
