Recap: Jonesboro Cardinals vs. Morrow Mustangs

After a string of four wins, the Jonesboro Cardinals's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 48-31 bruising from Morrow. Jonesboro was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Morrow apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Jonesboro's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janiya Hullett, who scored ten points along with three steals. Hullett has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaylin Scott, who scored no points along with eight blocks and five rebounds.

Morrow got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mikayla Dunston out in front who scored 16 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Dunston has scored at least 25% of Morrow's points. muzic dace was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Jonesboro's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3. As for Morrow, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Jonesboro will look to defend their home court on Monday against Lovejoy at 6:00 p.m. Lovejoy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Morrow won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Forest Park at 1:00 p.m. on December 9th. Forest Park comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
