Basketball Game Preview: St. Edward's Pirates vs. Odyssey Charter School Titans

St. Edward is 5-0 against Odyssey Charter School since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The St. Edward's Pirates will head out on the road to take on the Odyssey Charter School Titans at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in St. Edward's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.

St. Edward's is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Lincoln Park Academy just ended the team's five-game winning streak back in December of 2024. They fell just short of the Greyhounds by a score of 62-59.

Despite the defeat, St. Edward's got top-tier performance from Gary Anderson, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 15 boards, and ten blocks. Anderson has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cody Simmonds, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine assists.

Even though they lost, St. Edward's was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Park Academy only posted eight assists.

Meanwhile, Odyssey Charter School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 53-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Melbourne Central Catholic.

Odyssey Charter School's record is now 2-11. As for St. Edward's, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 5-2.

St. Edward's beat Odyssey Charter School 59-50 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Edward's since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
