Basketball Game Preview: Franklin Quakers vs. Lakeside Lions

Franklin and Lakeside are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Franklin Quakers will head out on the road to take on the Lakeside Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklin knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 matchups -- so hopefully Lakeside likes a good challenge.

On Tuesday, Franklin was fully in charge, breezing past Cleveland 85-41. Given the Quakers' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Eagles are ranked 354th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lakeside earned a 42-30 win over Ballard on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Lakeside has also been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.9 points per game. As for Franklin, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Franklin took their win against Lakeside in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 62-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Franklin since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
