New Hanover took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Whiteville Wolfpack as they made off with a 3-0 victory. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 win the Wolfpack walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.
The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-19, 25-12.
Maddie Sawyer paced New Hanover's offense, picking up nine kills. Sawyer got some help from Maille Smith and her 26 assists. Smith was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.
New Hanover will challenge New Bern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Whiteville, they will venture away from home to square off against North Brunswick at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
