Football Game Preview: New Braunfels Unicorns vs. Nixon Mustangs + How To Watch

Two dominant signal callers in LEVI GOLLA and Hunter Salinas are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The New Braunfels Unicorns will face off against the Nixon Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Braunfels' defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so Nixon's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Last Thursday, New Braunfels made easy work of Wagner and carried off a 35-14 victory. The Unicorns haven't had any issues with the Thunderbirds recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

BROCK STEWART continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 148 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Nixon beat Martin 25-20 on Saturday.

New Braunfels better focus on containing Mateo Hernandez and Emiliano Hernandez as the pair were huge in Nixon's win. Mateo picked up 151 receiving yards and one TD, while Emiliano picked up 39 receiving yards and a pair of scores. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 85 yards.

New Braunfels' record now sits at 8-2. As for Nixon, their record is now 7-3.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. New Braunfels has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 188.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Nixon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 160.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
