Preview: Notre Dame Prep Fighting Irish vs. Corunna Cavaliers

The Notre Dame Prep Fighting Irish will head out on the road to face off against the Corunna Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Notre Dame Prep sitting on nine straight wins and Corunna on ten.

Notre Dame Prep stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They really took it to Williamston for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-6 win at home. Given Notre Dame Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Williamston is ranked 96th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jacob Tuttle was a one-man wrecking crew for Notre Dame Prep as he rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 204 yards and three touchdowns. Joey Decasas was in the mix as well, providing Notre Dame Prep with two touchdowns.

Another reason for the win was Notre Dame Prep's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. Williamston's QB won't forget Matthew Sadecki anytime soon given Sadecki sacked him seven times.

Meanwhile, Corunna put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Hamady 45-7 at home. Corunna pushed the score to 31-7 by the end of the third, a deficit Hamady had little chance of recovering from.

Corunna got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaden Edington out in front who rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Tarick Bower, who picked up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Notre Dame Prep's victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-1 Clinton and 6-4 Divine Child (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55.5% over those games). As for Corunna, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.

Everything came up roses for Notre Dame Prep against Corunna when the teams last played back in September of 2018 as the squad secured a 35-8 win. Will Notre Dame Prep repeat their success, or does Corunna have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
