Softball Game Preview: True Gospel Christian Grizzly vs. Union Grove Christian Patriots

The True Gospel Christian Grizzly will square off against the Union Grove Christian Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. True Gospel Christian has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with five straight defeats, while Union Grove Christian will come in with three straight victories.

True Gospel Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against Calvary Christian last Tuesday, falling 30-14. Even if the Grizzly couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Meanwhile, Union Grove Christian had just enough and edged out Calvary Christian 2-1 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by just one run.

Morgan Donovant made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

Donovant wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bethany Yarbrough, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Union Grove Christian pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for True Gospel Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
