Baseball Recap: Hammond Morton Comes Up Short

Hammond Morton scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Michigan City Wolves by a score of 23-22. The Governors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nate George and Marcellous McQuay did some serious damage despite the final result: George scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances, while McQuay scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances. With that strong performance, McQuay is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Gerard Garnett was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Hammond Morton's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Michigan City, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hammond Morton will welcome Marquette Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Michigan City, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Kouts at 4:30 p.m.
