Baseball Recap: Northview Comes Up Short

If Northview was riding high fresh off their 10-3 takedown of Flomaton last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Northview Chiefs fell 9-4 to the Jay Royals on Thursday. The Chiefs have struggled against the Royals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Northview saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Northview's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Jay, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northview will take on Pensacola Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Northview is facing Pensacola Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Pensacola Christian Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Jay, they will face off against West Florida at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. West Florida's pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so Jay's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
