Basketball Recap: Walnut Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Walnut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost an 80-75 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hickory Flat Rebels. Even though they lost, the Wildcats' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.4 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

When it comes to explaining why Walnut lost, don't look at Logan Wilbanks. Despite the final result, he shot 42% from the field on his way to 35 points. The matchup was Wilbanks' fifth in a row with at least 19 points. Weston Bayless was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to nine steals and seven assists.

Walnut's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Hickory Flat, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-9.
