Basketball Recap: Tygarts Valley Takes a Loss

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Tuesday. Tygarts Valley fell 83-76 to Doddridge County. Tygarts Valley has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Tygarts Valley lost, don't look at Jacob Wamsley. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-10 on his way to 21 points and six boards. Wamsley is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Parker Bell was another key player, going 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Doddridge County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Heston Hayes, who went 7-for-9 en route to 17 points. The dominant performance gave Hayes a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Landon Thomas, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

Tygarts Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Doddridge County, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2.

Coming up, Tygarts Valley will venture away from home to take on Harman at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Doddridge County, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-49 loss against Williamstown on the 22nd.
