Soccer Game Preview: Broadway vs. East Rockingham

The Broadway Gobblers will head out to square off against the East Rockingham Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Broadway has given up an average of 3.5 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Broadway came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Turner Ashby, falling 7-0. While losing is never fun, Broadway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Turner Ashby are ranked 25th).

Meanwhile, East Rockingham earned a 4-2 victory over Rockbridge County on Thursday. The win continues a trend for East Rockingham in their matchups with Rockbridge County: they've now won four in a row.

Broadway has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8-1 record this season. As for East Rockingham, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.

Broadway beat East Rockingham by a goal when the teams last played back in April, winning 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gobblers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
