Recap: Maple Valley Lions vs. Union City Chargers
The Maple Valley Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 44-30 bruising from Union City. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Maple Valley has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Maple Valley still got an impressive performance from Ayden Wilkes , who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Wilkes 's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Musser, who scored four points.
Aidan Decker was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds for Union City. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Rick Austin was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Maple Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Union City, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maple Valley will square off against Galesburg-Augusta at 7:30 p.m. on December 22nd. Galesburg-Augusta will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Union City, they will head out on the road to face off against Hanover-Horton at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hanover-Horton is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
