Basketball Recap: Rangeview Takes a Loss

Rangeview was the 56-50 winner over Skyview when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rangeview Raiders were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 44-43 to the Skyview Wolverines.

Rangeview's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devyn Davenport, who went 7 for 17 to rack up 17 points and four steals. That's the most points Davenport has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Zania Romero-King, who earned ten points and six steals.

Even though they lost, Rangeview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyview only pulled down three offensive rebounds.

Skyview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Leila Estrada out in front who scored 11 points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Lucero, who went 5 of 10 en route to 11 points and three steals.

Rangeview has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Skyview, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Coming up, Rangeview will challenge Denver East at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Skyview, they will take on Gateway at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
